Jamie + Maverick
Theres so much I loved about the time I spent with Jamie and Maverick. We went to White Ranch Park, a beautiful spot near Golden, Colorado. The drive there is short but full of scenic views. The moment I arrived, I felt the magic in the air.
Chasing a happy dog down the trail feels special. Maverick had so much joy. His energy was contagious. Watching him trot ahead, looking back with excitement, filled me with warmth. Jamie's famously contagious laughter almost echoed against the mountains. The sun set behind us, adding a golden glow to everything.
But beyond the pretty scenery, I saw something deeper. I witnessed the bond between Jamie and Maverick. Their connection is pure and real. Jamie radiated love for her dog. I let her present with him in a way that felt honest. There was no pressure to pose or perform. They simply moved together, sharing in each other's joy.
There’s something beautiful about the way a girl and her dog connect. It’s filled with loyalty and wild spirit. This reminds me of a passage from the book "Women who run with the Wolves" by Clarissa Pinkola Estés I find myself constantly revisiting. It speaks of wolves and women, about instincts and the longing for freedom. Jamie, with her traveling spirit, embodied that feeling. Maverick, full of life, mirrored that same wildness.
This experience felt like a reminder to slow down. We often rush through our lives, trapped in expectations. But here, in that park, I felt the beauty of being present. The little in- between moments mattered.
The idea is not to get the perfect shot every time; it’s about capturing the essence of a relationship. The way Jamie looked at Maverick, the way they ran together, that’s what stays. Yes, we want beautiful imagery, but it’s the authentic connections that leave the most impact. It wasn’t just a session; it was a shared experience. The laughter, playful movements, and the golden light came together to tell their story.
Let’s embrace the magic of real moments, however messy they may be.
